Full French Camino from Saint Jean Pied de Port

This is the second time we’ve used Juan, CaminoByTheWay and from our initial enquiry right through to the very end of our French Camino, Juan supported us all the way. Juan stayed in touch with us several times a day whilst we were walking, to make sure we were okay and when I unfortunately suffered a knee injury, Juan was incredible. He helped book taxis, assisted with bus timetables, booked physio appointments, etc – the list goes on. The support, advice and encouragement he showed to us during a really difficult time was really amazing and it was so comforting knowing that he was there to help – always positive, quick to respond and help. All our overnight accommodation and transportation of our luggage worked seamlessly throughout the entire 38 days. To sum it up, Juan is professional , kind and knowledgeable – we have loved becoming part of the Camino family. Thank you Juan and we will be back to you for our next Camino! Buen Camino!! ❤️

Full Coastal Portuguese Camino

A group of 28 were guided brilliantly by Juan, Micheal and Lucas. We had a stress free experience , with lovely food, accommodation, bag transfers, people transfers etc. Absolutely nothing was a problem , the walking fantastic and good fun. Fatima Camino

We are a group of 4 from Singapore, and Juan helped to customized our mini Fatima Camino from Santarem to Fatima from Apr 12 – 19, 2024. We were well supported by Juan’s Google Earth map & 24 hours WhatsApp support for our 4 days of actual walking Apr 15-18 for 60km. He was very responsive to our WhatsApp chat progress & requests, able to make changes to taxi pickups and transfers when required. Also he managed to arrange for earlier check-in for 1 of my travelling companion at Fatima as she was not feeling well to join us on our final day of walking. We really enjoyed the simple hospitality at the local/family hotel he arranged at Amiribatejo and Juan getting our pilgrim passports at Lisbon Cathedral ahead of our journey. We will strongly recommend Juan/CBTW for Caminos. Buen Camino!

We took 20 fifth year boys and 3 teachers on a school trip. An absolutely amazing trip, one that the students in particular will remember for the rest of their lives. All of this made possible and easy (apart from the walking) by the organisational ability and clear communication from Juan. Any minor issues that arose were dealt with immediately. Any blisters that needed tending to were taken care of so professionally. You can tell also from the people in the hotels and restaurants that they are very happy to be working with him and excellent service is the result. An incredible tour guide, and a complete gentleman.

Right from booking through to the end of my trip ‘Crossing Galicia’, I found Raquel and Juan from CaminoByTheWay extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Their competency and professionalism ensured that all went smoothly for me. As a solo traveller I never felt alone with 24/7 mobile support. This was invaluable, for example I needed walking poles, within a short period of time they appeared at my hotel. I was met in person at The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, a thoughtful and kind gesture. No delays with taxis or luggage transfer. Lovely hotels with a nice breakfast ensured a positive start each day. Crossing Galicia was a wonderful experience, good for mind, body and soul. A beautiful and unspoilt landscape with fantastic people. I highly recommend this trip.

From start to finish CaminoByTheWay surpassed expectations, every detail was meticulously managed without a second of drama. The knowledge, support and kindness of Juan and Donal is more than words can describe. I had completed a Camino stage with my family previously and the difference of being part of a Guided Tour was crazy – the written daily plan, constant clear communication, 2 guides, the blister clinic, the 24/7 support, the way they integrated with the group, knew every name and were professional every step of the way. It was a great experience and we took our time so that my mother and sister-in-law also were able to complete the 117km and get their compestela! We were very lucky with the weather as it was dry most days except the afternoon of the 28km day!
